Abstract

1517106 Lintels EXPANDED METAL CO Ltd 16 Feb 1977 [6 April 1976 17 May 1976] 13860/76 and 20212/76 Heading E1K A lintel comprises a horizontal part 6 which, in use, rests at its ends on inner and outer skins of a cavity wall to support the outer skin 1 above an opening, a first web 4 made rigid with the part 6, preferably by welding, and extending upwardly and rearwardly to terminate in a flange 10 arranged to enter the inner skin 2, a second horizontal part 7 arranged between the flange 10 and the part 6 and connected, either as shown to an intermediate point on the web 4 in the same plane, or to the top of the web adjacent the flange 10 (Figs. 4-6, not shown), and a second web 5 rigid with the part 6 and extending upwardly from an intermediate point on part 6 to connect rigidly with the part 7, preferably centrally of the thickness of the skin 2. The part 7 is preferably arranged at a height above part 6 equivalent to either one (as shown) or two courses of bricks, and the flange 10 is either one or two courses of bricks higher than the part 7. The lower end of web 4 preferably includes a flange 9 having a depending lip 8.
