Locking while standing.-To prevent the unauthorized use of motor vehicles or cycles, leverlike parts such as the change-speed and brake levers or the cranks are locked by a rotatable slotted bar secured by a lock. The slotted bar a is mounted between the change-speed and brake levers &c. and is rotatable on a longitudinal axis so that in one position slots a<1> engage and secure the levers and in the other position the levers are free. The bar is secured in either position by a letter lock &c. in which the engaging bolt d is operated by a handle f and carries a cam g adapted to engage a spring-pressed plate h which enters aliued recesses l<1> in the letter rings l.
