Abstract
1507119 Armour-piercing, incendiary projectiles DIEHL 16 Sept 1976 [26 Nov 1975] 38314/76 Heading F3A An armour-piercing, incendiary projectile comprises a core 1, a ballistic cap 2, an incendiary charge 4 consisting of a reducing agent and an oxygen carrier, and an impact-ignitable ignition composition 3 for the incendiary charge. The core 1 may be solid or may contain a high explosive charge 5. The incendiary charge 4 comprises an admixture of Mg, Al, Zr or Ti, if necessary with the addition of cerium or cerium alloys, and Fe 3 O 4 , Fe 2 O 3 , MnO 2 or Mn 3 O 4 . The ignition composition 3 comprises a perchlorate composition such as magnesium/potassium perchlorate, zirconium/potassium perchlorate or cerium iron/potassium perchlorate.
