Abstract

1506946 Separating sheets HAMMERLE AG 6 Nov 1975 46009/75 Heading B8R Sheets 1, e.g. metal plates, are separated from a pile 2 by suction heads 8, 8<SP>1</SP> mounted on a lifting frame 7, and a carriage 9, movable on a track 10 which extends below the suction heads when the frame 7 is in its raised position, takes over separated sheets from the suction heads. With the carriage in its illustrated position, frame 7 is lowered and a foremost row of suction heads 8<SP>1</SP> is extended to contact and raise an uppermost sheet from the pile. An air blast from nozzles on the carriage is then applied and the remaining suction heads 8 actuated. The frame 7 is then raised so that the carriage 9 can be moved under the separated sheet. Finally frame 7 is lowered again and rollers 11 on the carriage drive the sheet to a press or shears 3. Alternatively the carriage may return to its initial position with the sheet thereon, this position being adjacent a cutting station (31), (32), Fig. 3 (not shown). In this case the rollers may be free running and the sheet removed from the carriage by pushers mounted thereon.
