Abstract

1502656 Wrenches N-S-W CORP 11 March 1975 [1 April 1974 7 Feb 1975] 10162/75 Heading B3N [Also in Divisions B4-B5] A toggle-action wrench has a first jaw 1 on first handle 4 with two or more contiguous planar wall portions 40, 42 for engaging adjacent sides of a polygonal member, nut 30, a plate 7 pivotally mounted on the handle 4 and on a second handle 5 and a second jaw 2 pivotally mounted on the plate. The second jaw has a concave recessed wall portion 45 adapted to engage further portions of the polygonal member. A tension spring 8 is coupled between the plate and first handle 4 and toggle link 11 is adjustable by means of threaded member 13 screwed in handle 4 to adjust the spacing of the jaws. The wrench may be released from a locked position, engaging the nut, by means of release lever 20 which coacts with projections on the toggle link 11 and handle 5. An alternative form of second jaw 2<SP>1</SP> is shown in Fig. 6. For added strength jaw 2 engages plate 7 near pivot 61 via part-cylindrical complementary positions 61<SP>1</SP>, 61<SP>11</SP>.
