Abstract

1502603 Structural joints H M HAY 19 March 1975 [6 April 1974] 15340/74 Heading F2M [Also in Division E1] Noggins 15 are connected to main tees 10 of a suspended ceiling framework via clips 27 of inverted U-shape and with vertical slots 28 in their limbs. In the embodiment shown, a notched web end of the noggin is engaged in the slot by rotation in a vertical plane. In the embodiments of Figs. 1-10 (not shown), engagement is by a thrust followed by a lateral movement of the noggin end, causing a transverse flange or rib (22) to engage behind one side (17b) of one limb of the clip. In the embodiment of Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown) the clip has inwardly-directed barbs (38) at the upper limb edges to increase frictional resistance to movement along the main tee, and an enlarged opening to the bottom of the slot to facilitate engagement with a noggin by mere downwards pressure on the clip. In the clips of Figs. 1-10, a transverse rib (19) stiffens the upper part of the clip. Weakening holes (26) are provided in the noggin webs to prevent collapse in fires.
