Abstract

876,743. Clip fastenings. SILENT CHANNEL CO. Ltd. Nov. 10, 1958 [Nov. 8, 1957], No. 34891/57. Class 44. A fastener clip comprises an element substantially J-shaped in cross-section and formed of strip metal the element having two resilient side limbs 15, 16 joined at one end by a web 17, each of the limbs having the free end thereof directed away from the web and one limb 16 being longer than the other 15 to provide a portion 22 extending beyond the free end of the shorter limb, the shorter limb being formed with a prong or prongs 19 sheared therefrom and bent inwardly so that the point of the prong, or each prong is directed towards the web whereby the clip can be engaged over and secured to an edge portion of a supporting panel the extended portion of the longer limb being sheared to form in said extended portion a plurality of tongues 24 to 26, adapted to grip a weather strip 8, for the support of the weather strip along the panel in a position spaced from the edge portion of the panel to be engaged by the clip limbs. As shown three tongues are formed in the portion 22 the central tongue 25 being flat and the two outside tongues 24, 26 being shaped to embrace a beaded edge of the weather strip.
