Abstract

1496575 Lift operated gripper Y KONDO 14 Jan 1975 1459/75 Heading B8H A lift operated gripper comprises a pair of plates 10, 12 with a member 26 of inverted isosceles trapezoidal cross-section and guides 36, 38 connected therebetween to define parallel sided guideways in which jaws 40, 42 are slidably located. Each jaws has a pair of arms 60, 66 pivotally mounted therein, which mount a weight 62, 68 and are pivotable about a fulcrum formed by a projecting edge 50, 52 on the respective guide 36, 38. In operation the gripper is lowered over a load to be lifted, e.g. a girder 25, the weights are then manually raised to allow the jaws to slide into engagement with the load and then the gripper is raised causing said jaws to grip the load.
