Abstract
1382798 Austenitic. manganese steel BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD 20 Dec 1972 [7 Jan 1972] 835/72 Heading C7A Railway track, wheels or tyres are fabricated from austenitic manganese steel comprising, by weight:- the balance being iron and impurities. The steel need not be rapidly quenched after heat treatment since embrittling carbide precipitates are minimized; it may not even be necessary to apply any heat-treatment. However, if heat-treated or worked while warm, oil quenching may be employed.
