Abstract

1491474 Carton formed from a blank REED INTERNATIONAL Ltd 20 Feb 1975 [8 April 1974] 15383/74 Heading B8P A rectangular carton is formed from a onepiece blank of foldable sheet material, e.g. cardboard or corrugated board comprising a first elongate strip having fold lines 1, 2, 3 to define a row of four hingedly interconnected panels 4, 5, 6, 7 which, when the ends of the strip are joined together, e.g. by means of tab 8, form the side walls of the carton; and a second elongate strip formed with folded lines 9, 16 to define a row of three hingedly interconnected panels 12, 13, 14 of which the end panels 12 and 14, when the carton is erected, form respectively the base and the lid of the carton; and wherein the two strips extend alongside each other and are integrally connected via a connecting panel 17 of which one edge 18 is integrally connected to one end of the second strip and an adjacent edge 19 perpendicular thereto is integrally connected to the side of a panel of the first strip, a gusset fold line 20 extending from the junction between the adjacent edges of the connecting panel whereby folding of the connecting panels enables the two strips to be brought into mutually perpendicular relationship for the erection of the carton.
