Abstract
1488257 Vehicle cooling installations COVRAD Ltd 26 Feb 1975 [27 Feb 1974] 8828/74 Heading B7H A vehicle is provided with a cooling installation comprising heat exchanger means 11A, 11B, Fig. 4, situated in a passage 12 through which cooling air is caused to flow as a result of forward movement of the vehicle, the installation further comprising a fan 15 for providing a flow of cooling air through a duct 14 to the heat exchanger means when the vehicle is stationary. As illustrated in Fig. 4, the heat exchanger means includes an engine coolant radiator 11A and a refrigerant heat exchanger 11B. The heat exchanger means may further include an oil cooler. A flap valve 23 may be mounted in the passage 12. In the alternative cooling installation of Fig. 5, a radiator 11C and a refrigerant heat exchanger 11D lie transversely of the vehicle in end-to-end relationship. In a modification, the fan of the cooling installation may be arranged to draw air from the downstream side of the heat exchanger means.
