Abstract

1487954 Inverting sheets XEROX CORP 20 Nov 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 50283/74 Heading B8R A sheet S is inverted by moving a guide 32 into the path of the sheet so that the sheet is deflected around roller 34 and is brought into abutment with resilient stop 44 between guides 46 and 48 and then moving the sheet away from the stop by means of rollers 36 and 50. The described apparatus may be incorporated into a copying machine such that a sheet printed on one side is deflected by guide 32 into the space between guides 46 and 48 and is forwarded past stop 44 (which is in the retracted position, Fig. 3) to a sheet stacker. The sheet is then separated from the stacker, printed on the other side, deflected by guide 32 to a position against stop 44 and then fed out by rollers 36 and 50 to a collator. If guide 32 is kept in the retracted position sheets pass directly to the collator. Movement of stop 44 to its aperture position moves guides 46 and 48 apart and thus separates rollers 38 and 40 to permit reverse movement of the sheet.
