Abstract

1486154 Band clamp J M VERGES 10 Dec 1975 [6 Oct 1975] 50575/75 Heading E2B A worm-drive band clamp comprises a casing mounted on one end of a strap 2 whose other end has transverse slots 5 engagable by the thread of a screw 4 rotatably carried by the casing. The casing is mounted on the strap by having its two sidewalls bent in below a raised portion or bridge 1 in the strap 2 to form two complementary halves of a flat base 3 of the casing. The bridge has at one end a narrowed prolongation 6 defining a similar prolongation of the recess in the underside of the strap 2 wherein is located a pair of lugs 7 forming an extension of the base 3. The other end of the base 3 bears against two lateral stops 8 left unraised in the strap 2. When the clamp is tightened by turning the screw 4 the base 3 and the lug 7 are clamped in the recess beneath the bridge 1 and its prolongation 6, while the base 3 bears against the stops 8. The casing thus remains firmly secured to the strap 2.
