Abstract
1485854 Automatic circuit-breakers RCA CORPORATION 18 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 45192/74 Heading H1N An electric circuit breaker with a bimetal latch release has an ambient temperature compensating bimetal which provides that the relationship of the latch and release bimetal remain substantially unchanged during changes of ambient temperature. In Fig. la the compensating bimetal 33 is seam welded to the current carrying bimetal 23 and when the ambient temperature changes maintains the latch end 100 or a retainer 34 secured to the end of a contact spring 25. In Fig. 2a the compensating bimetal 63 is mounted between a block 66 on the contact spring 55 and a retainer 64 normally latched by the current carrying bimetal 53.
