Abstract
1356578 Temperature responsive switches KENNETH E BESWICK Ltd 2 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 42597/70 Heading H1N A thermal cut out comprises a fixed contact 1 and a resilient movable contact 2 shaped so as to have a portion 2a resiliently biased towards the fixed contact 1 and held in engagement by a fusible mass 3. When a predetermined temperature is reached the mass 3 melts and the contact portions la, 2a slide apart. The cut out comprises a casing consisting of a block 4 and a cover 5, the block holding the conducting parts firmly inside the cover. The movable contact 2 is clamped between the block and cover and located by lugs 6 engaging in grooves 7 in the block; a terminal 13 is similarly mounted and located by a curved portion 10 and is connected by a fuse wire 9 to the fixed contact 1. The latter is clamped between the casing and an extension 4a of the block. Terminals 12, 13 may be for solding or plug-in connections. The flexible mass 3 is of a bismuth-cadmium-lead alloy.
