148,214. Gothaer Waggonfabrik Akt.- Ges. Oct. 22, 1917, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Shock of landing, deadening.-A spring mechanism for vehicles, particularly aircraft, comprises spring-pressed rollers G bearing on rails E on the wheel axle C. Two springs B are shown arranged in the converging tubular struts A of an aircraft undercarriage, the springs bearing against plates J carrying forks H for the rollers G which bear against rails E arranged at right angles to the axes of the springs. When the plane of the struts A is inclined to the axle C, the rails E are pivoted about an axis m-n and the forks H are pivoted as shown to the plates J so that the thrust on the rails E is always direct. When the plane of the struts A is at right angles to the axle C, both the rails E and forks H may be fixed. The rollers G are grooved or the rails E have raised edges to prevent lateral displacement.
