Abstract
1481071 Pipe coupling GROHE HANDELS GmbH 12 Sept 1974 [14 Sept 1973] 39789/74 Heading F2G A pipe coupling which compensates for misalignment of the end of a water supply pipe laid in a wall and an inlet pipe of a faucet, e.g. a mixing faucet comprises an inlet connection piece 1 having an annular boss 12 and external screwthreads 2 which screw into the supply pipe; an annular disc 3 with external screwthreads 4 which is carried on inlet connection 1 by an eccentric hole in the disc and which is rotatable about inlet connection 1 in order to compensate for the misalignment of the pipes, and a union nut 5 movably retained on faucet 7 by outlet connection piece 6, the inlet and outlet pieces being held in contact against washer 8 by screwing nut 5 on to disc 3. Faucet 7 is connected to the supply line by slipping disc 3 and rubber disc 11 on to inlet connection 1 which is screwed into the supply line until disc 3 is loosely held between boss 12 and rubber disc 11 which is in contact with the wall; rotating disc 3 into the desired position and securing it against the wall by screwing inlet connection piece 1 further into the supply line; screwing union nut 5 on to disc 3 and positioning the faucet 7 which is then held in position with the outlet connection 6 in contact with boss 12 of inlet connection 1 by tightening the nut 5 onto disc 3. Part spherical surfaces 9, 10 on disc 3 and outlet connection 6 respectively engaging corresponding surfaces on boss 12 and nut 5 compensate for misalignment of the coupling.
