1477455 Clamps KWIKFORM Ltd 3 June 1974 [13 March 1973] 11924/73 Heading E2B A clamp comprises a pair of plates having aligned apertures and a connecting member transverse to the plates and pivotally supporting the plates, the plates diverging at an acute angle; in use, opposed portions of the boundary wall of each aperture are urged to engage an element at points spaced longitudinally thereof. The plates 10 and 12 have apertures 17, 19 and pivot on a connecting member 11, Fig. 1a. A spring 23 on a stud 20 urges the plates apart and when inoperative the plates abut pins 24 on the stud. The stud may be replaced by a turn buckle. The plates 50, 52, Fig. 2, are alternatively connected to a tension spring 63 and pivot about a member 51 when the ends of the plates are pressed together. The member 51 has hooked tongues 69, 70 which extend through holes in the plates and the plates may pivot about shoulders 71, 72, on the member. The member 51 may be between the spring and the elements 58a, 58b. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, the plates 100, 102 are connected by a spring 113 at one end and may pivot about the edges of an aperture in an extension of one element 108b in which an element 108a is telescopically displaceable. The clamp may be joined, e.g. pivotally to coupling means 115, Fig. 8, comprising a U-shaped member having apertures for a wedging member 139 (which may also secure other forms of coupling means).
