Abstract
1476858 Dolls, etc; game figures MATTEL INC 1 Oct 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 40185/75 Headings A6H and A6S [Also in Division E2] A doll, &c has upper and lower torso parts connected by a joint which either allows free pivoting between the two parts or else is frictionally locked to retain the two parts without relative movement between them. In one form, the lower torso 28, Fig. 2, of a doll carries a ball 44 which seats pivotally in a socket 36 at the lower end of the upper torso 26. A lever 52 pivoted by its trunnions 54, &a in the upper torso 26 can be raised to the dotted line position shown so that fingers 66, &c at its lower, inner edge engage frictionally with the ball. The upper and, lower torsos 26, 28 are then locked together. In another form, a ball 44A, Fig. 4, formed, at the upper end of a lower torso has a guide peg sliding in a slot 33 across a socket 36A, at the lower end of an upper torso 26. In the raised, solid line position of a lever 52A, which can pivot about a pin 54A in the upper torso, a finger 66A at its lower end engages frictionally with the ball 44A. The doll, &c may simulate a tennis or other game player.
