A resilient connector 44, secured between a pin 28 on the lower torso 14 of the doll and a lip 50 in the upper torso 16, is engaged by a ledge 138 of the plate 120 so as to oppose its manual depression and biass the plate 120 back to its initial position, flush with the doll's back. A pin 86, Fig. 1, in tension between the gear 102 and the shoulder 92 of the arm 82, holds the shoulder in frictional engagement with a socket 104 of the gear; the arm can be turned manually about the axis of the gear 102 overcoming the frictional coupling between the arm and gear. The end 88 of the tension pin 86 carries a transverse bar 90 which, in combination with an arcuate slot 98 in the shoulder, allows the arm 82 to be raised manually outwards from the torso 16. The other arm 84 is mounted in the torso 16 by a tension pin 86 so that it can be manually pivoted about the axis of the pin, or raised outwardly as allowed by an arcuate slot 98, &c, against the frictional engagement of its shoulder 92 with an opening 80 in the torso.
