Abstract

1474237 Beer dispensing system BRITISH SYPHON INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 April 1975 [15 May 1974] 21619/74 Heading A4T A beer dispensing system comprises a detector 34 in the supply pipe from a set of beer kegs 18, 20, 22 to a dispensing tap, one of the kegs being connected to the supply pipe by a valve 28 controlled by a cyclic switch 36 operated by the detector. When the keg becomes exhausted this is detected and the switch 36 operated to close the valve 28 and open the valve 30 of the next keg 20. If the next keg 20 is also empty the switch closes the valve 30 and opens the valve 32 of the keg 22. The valves are solenoid operated by cam operated switches 54, 56, 58. The detector has a float 40 carrying or constituting a magnet to operate a proximity switch 42 when the beer level in the container 38 of the detector falls. The container acts as a reservoir during change over of kegs. A system cleaning apparatus containing detergent can be coupled to the valve manifold (26) and the system can be flushed by continuous operation of the cyclic switch, Fig. 2 (not shown). The detector may alternatively be a flow switch or a detector of gas build up in the supply pipe.
