1315855 Beverage dispense systems PORTER-LANCASTRIAN Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 12405/70 Heading A4T In a beverage dispense system in which pressurised beer from a container 12 passes at 17, 18 into and out of the bottom of a chamber 16 to a diaphragm metering pump 11 and one or more dispense points 13, a fob detecting and venting device is provided in chamber 16 comprising a float 19 movable on guides 21 and carrying a magnet 24. Fob lowers the beer level in chamber 16 until the magnet actuates a reed switch 23 and operates a warning light 42. An air-piston actuates vent valve 26 preferably adjacent the dispense point controlled e.g. by knob 43, can release the carbon dioxide in 16 so that the beer level rises. In the full embodiment of Fig. 2 the line 17 is connected to a change-over device 31 for a plurality of containers 12 a-c, the device comprising air-piston actuated valves 32 a-c the selected inlet to which is connected via airpressure couplings 37, 38 on a control board 41 adjacent the dispense point or bar. The fob detecting device 16 is provided with an upper reed switch 28 which indicates when chamber 16 is full by light 29, and chamber 16 is provided with a buffer chamber 27 whereby, if switch 23 and light 42 indicate the level in chamber 16 is low, due to fob and generally indicating an empty keg 12, a last dispensing is available from chamber 27. Actuation of switch 23 then inhibits further dispensing. Line 17 may connect to a single container thus avoiding parts 31, 41.
