Abstract

1474209 Watch strap connector TEXTRON Inc 22 Nov 1974 [25 July 1974] 50638/74 Heading E2A A component 20 for making an end attachment 14 for watch bands adapted to be mounted between spaced lugs of a wrist watch comprises a generally tubular member 21 formed from a strip of metal and slidably grinding a pair of oppositely spring biassed tubular inserts 32 therewithin, movement of the tubular inserts outwardly of the member 21 being limited by the co-operation of a respective tab 24, 25 of the member with the closed end of an open-ended slot 33 of a respective insert 32. Each insert 32 is formed from a strip of metal and the slot is formed between adjacent ends of the strip. The tabs 24, 25 of the member 21 are formed one on each of the adjacent ends of the strip from which the member 21 is made. A spring 30 is provided for each insert 32, the springs 30 acting against a tab 28 of the member 21. The tab 28 may be interposed between the coils of a single biassing spring. A top shell 40 comprises a generally tubular portion 41 which partly surrounds the member 21 and is partly retained by tabs 43 of the portion 41 co-operating with cut out portions 27A, 27B of the member 21 (Fig. 4, not shown). For further retaining the top shell 40 on the component 20 flanges (47) and tabs 49 are provided. A flange 46 of the top shell 40 is interposed between adjacent links 15 of, the watch band.
