Abstract

146,800. Wullstein, H. F. March 2, 1920. Sieves and screens, forms and construction of.-A screen for granular material comprises an open frame 1 carrying a number of parallel bars 9, 9<a>, Figs. 1 and 2, of uniform cross-section and with alternate bars diverging vertically from the others towards their free ends. The bars are provided with eyes 12 engaging rectangular shafts 6, the ends of which are located in sockets 4 in the lower sides of grooves 3 in side bars 2 of the frame. The shafts are held in place by plates 7, which also serve to protect the sides of the frame from wear. The eyes 12, preferably separated by washers 13, are held against movement on the shafts by angular bars 14, one edge of each of which is secured by soldering to the eyes, while the other edge is provided with ears 15 through which certain of the bars 9 pass. The bars are convenientlv stamped from sheet metal and are formed with ribs 10 which serve to support the free ends of the bars 9, 9<a>. In a modified construction, Fig. 5, straight bars 9<b> are used instead of the bent bars 9<a>, and their free ends are left unsupported.
