Abstract

425,877. Sieves. HERRMANN, L., 33, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Sept. 13, 1934, No. 26260. [Class 117] In screens or grates of the kind comprising bars of parallel-sided or downwardly tapering cross-sectional shape, substantially narrower and downwardly tapering bars are disposed in the spaces between the main bars. The tops of the narrow bars may be placed below the level of the main bars. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement in which the narrow bars L are disposed symmetrically between main bars c, c<1>, having enlarged tops and reduced stems. The upper sieving surface of the main bars may be flat, as shown, rounded, pyramidal or inclined in the direction of the flow of material so as to form a ratchet conveying surface. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement in which the narrow bar L is inclined and disposed so that the openings between it and the main bars. h, h<1>, is of increasing width downwardly. As shown in Fig. 5, one side of the narrow bar L is vertical and the top surface is inclined at an angle to the sieving surface to facilitate the screening of flat pieces.
