1461273 Sintered ferrous alloys BRICO ENG Ltd 21 May 1974 [13 June 1973] 28045/73 Addition to 1339132 Heading C7A A sintered ferrous alloy has the composition It may be produced by mixing, pressing and sintering pre-alloys of 76 Fe 20 Cr 2 Si 1À5Ni 0À8Mn mixed with 6 Cu 1C and 0À75 solid lubricant at approx 1100C in a reducing atmosphere and annealing at 750C, followed by infiltration with Cu or Cu-based alloys. Variation of the Cr content of the pre-alloy between 18-22% produces varying Cr contents in the finished material, which may be used in valve seat inserts in I.C. engines.
