Abstract
1459110 Stern trawlers ATELIERS ET CHANTIERS DE LA MANCHE 19 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 55049/74 Heading B7A A stern trawler has an inclined passageway 9 leading from a stern ramp 7 obliquely forwards to a trawl winder 8 to accommodate a trawl when casting or hauling it in and an upper deck above the passageway 9 on which is located a winch 1 having side drums 1a, 1b for trawl tow cables 2a, 2b which pass through pulleys 6a, 6b or 6c, 6d in accordance with the width of the trawl being used. The pulleys depend from arms 5a, 5b of a gantry 4 which carries a block 26 for handling the trawl. Fish are dumped from the trawl into areas 14a, 14b and then moved on a conveyer 15 to a sorting table 16 and finally into a hold 17. The conveyer 15, table 16 and trawl winder are undercover beneath the upper deck. The otter boards of the trawl 4a, 4b or 24a, 24b are hung off the stern or stowed against the side bulwarks respectively as shown.
