Abstract

145,884. Vickers, Ltd., and McKechnie, Sir J. April 2, 1919. Framework.-Bracing-pieces for use in light built-up girders and like structures, especially those used in aircraft construction, of the kind described in Specification 121,552, are made of channelled or corrugated form, which channels or corrugations extend throughout the length of the piece. The bracing-pieces B are provided with continuous corrugations or channels, and with lugs b<1>, b<2>, as shown, to enable them to be rivetted to the main members and to each other. They are formed by cutting drawn strips into lengths and shaping the edges to the desired contour. The central lugs b<2> may be of other forms, or may be omitted, the rivets in the latter case passing through the centre of the bracing-pieces.
