Abstract

1456917 Jointed stays JAMES GIBBONS Ltd 6 March 1975 [11 March 1974] 10730/74 Heading E2F A stay mounted between a fixed frame 21 and a movable member 24 (e.g. a window) comprises a first part 11 pivoted at 22 to the fixed frame and a second part 16 pivoted at 15 to the first part and slidable on the movable member; the first part being latchable, at 14 to the frame 21 to allow restricted movement of the member 24 by part 16 (Fig. 2). The pivots 15 and 22 are provided with nylon washers to cause some frictional restraint and part 16 is mounted on a nylon or like friction block slidable on a channel 18 with a similar frictional restraint being set by an adjustment screw 19. The latch at 14 comprises a spring biassed peg (13, Fig. 4, not shown) which can enter a hole 25 in the part 11 and must be pressed out by a suitable implement or a finger to release this part. A stop 27 limits the relative pivotal movement of the parts 11 and 16.
