Abstract

1,204,115. Cable-operating lever mechanism. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 6 Nov., 1967 [10 Aug., 1966], No. 35843/66. Heading B7E. [Also in Division F2] A hand lever 17 for controlling a vehicle heating/cooling system has at one end a pivotal sliding connection to a frame plate 10, the other end carrying a knob 30 and projecting beyond an edge 26 of the frame, and a pin 25 on the lever slidably engages a slot 23 in the plate 10 parallel to the edge 26 to guide the lever so that the knob 30 moves substantially parallel to the edge 26. The pivotal sliding connection comprises a pin 19 on the plate 10 engaging a slot 20 in the lever 17. A spring 36 on the plate 10 acts on a pin 35 of the lever to urge the pin 25 into one of detent depressions 32-34 in the slot 23. The inner member 48 of a Bowden cable is secured to the lever, the outer member 43 being clipped to a lug 41 of the plate 10. In use, the edge 26 is mounted in the vehicle dash with the plate 10 horizontal. A second lever (18), (Fig. 4, not shown) is also slidably pivoted on the pin 19.
