1456648 Feeding and delivering sheets HERVE ET FILS-PAPETERIES DU SENTIER R E NICHAM A B DALLASERRA and A J FROMONT 23 Nov 1973 [1 Dec 1972 8 Nov 1973] 54430/73 Heading B8R A composite web from a computer is cut transversely into small piles of sheets and longitudinally trimmed by cutters 3, 5, Fig. 1, and the piles are fed by belts 11, 12, 61, 62 and 63, 77, Fig. 7, past a plurality of stations P 1 -P 6 , the belts being moved at such speeds as to cause the top sheet of each pile to be slightly offset forwards. Each station comprises a suction roller 66 co-operating with rollers 65, 73 and carrying belts 71 co-operating with belts 72 carried by the roller 73, suction being applied through perforations 28 only over a cut-away sector α of the hub 68. At station P, the top sheet of each pile in succession is separated by the roller 66 and fed by belts 82, to a receiver 55 1 . Similarly, the second to sixth sheets are separated at P 2 -P 6 and fed to receivers 55 2 -55 6 , while the bottom or seventh sheet is fed to the bottom receiver. A reversely rotating roller 75 assists prevention of double feed. The leading end of each sheet trips an arm actuating a switch or actuates a photoelectric device. An additional arrangement of belts 58 1 and 58 2 makes it possible to feed three sheets from each pile to the receiver 55 3 , for example. A modification of the apparatus for use with reduced width is described with reference to Figs. 2-5 (not shown).
