Abstract

1456527 Working at specified temperatures BRUNSWICK CORP 23 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 54561/73 Heading B3V [Also in Division C7] Stainless steel containing in percentage by wt. C 0À01-0À15 Cr 17-19 Cu 0-0À5 Mn 0-2 Mo 0-0À9 Ni 7-10 P 0-0À04 Si 0-1À5 S 0-0À03 Fe balance is annealed at 1500-2100‹ F., warm worked with not more than 85% reduction at a temperature of 150-500‹ F. above the M d30 temperature whereby the ambient temperature stability of the austenite is decreased. The M d30 temperature is given (in degrees C) by the formula M d30 =500-462 (per cent C + per cent N)-2 (per cent Si + per cent Mn)-12 per cent Cr)-36 (per cent Ni)-6 (per cent Mo). The steel may be subsequently subjected to at least 60% cold deformation at a temperature between 50‹ and 100‹ F.
