Abstract

1453230 Percussive tools SKIL (NEDERLAND) NV 22 Feb 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 8233/74 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] A rotary hammer power tool in which axial and/or rotational motion can take place comprises a tappet 32 with clutch teeth 47 and first and second hammering portions 49, 26, a rotary bit tool driver 52 having teeth 58 which can engage the teeth 47, a tool element 78 with a shank 79 which is rotatable with the driver 52 and axially slidable relative thereto and selection means 62 comprising an eccentric and engageable with the driver 52 to reciprocate it axially and engage and disengage the clutch teeth 47, 58 to selectively impart rotation to the tool bit. The tappet 32 receives hammering blows on its second hammering surface 26 from a hammering bit 30 which can be disengaged by retracting the tool from the work and allowing surface 26 to move out of range of hammering bit 30. Hammering action is transmitted to shank 79 by means of first hammering surface 49 in the tappet. Rotation is passed to shank 44 of the tappet from a drive motor 16. Handles 13, 14 are provided.
