Abstract

1447592 Propeller hubs BRUNSWICK CORP 5 Aug 1974 34358/74 Heading B7V A propeller with a passageway through the hub for exhaust gases is moulded from a material including nylon and at least 30% by weight of fibre glass, and comprises a hub with an outer annular portion 3, and an inner portion 4 connected thereto by a plurality of hubs 5. The portion 4 further includes a liner 10, e.g. of aluminium, and a splined sleeve 14, with a compressed resilient element 16, e.g. of rubber, therebetween. The trailing edge 21 is flared outwardly to prevent the exhaust from being drawn to the low pressure side of the propeller. The propeller is moulded, e.g. by injection, with the liner 10 as an insert. The flared end is subsequently swaged by a heated tool (26), Fig. 3, not shown. A ring 20 can be fitted. The material of the propeller can also include an ionic copolymer, and an unsaturated carboxylic acid.
