Abstract

1444429 Junction pieces; valves MARKARYDS METALLARMATUR AB 24 Oct 1973 [6 Nov 1972] 49536/73 Headings F2G and F2V [Also in Division F4] A connecting piece for central heating radiators, which may be used in both one-pipe and two-pipe systems, comprises a housing 2 with pipe branches 3-6, and a valve member 35 having sealing portions 32, 26, 23 adapted to co-operate with a sealing ring 21, a seat 25 and a surface 27 in the housing. The valve member is movable from a position in which all four branches are closed to one in which flow paths are provided at least between the pipe branches 3 and 6 and between the branches 4 and 5. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the valve member 35 is tapered adjacent the sealing portion 26 to provide a gradually variable flow through the seat 25. The valve member 35 may be formed of plastics material and is provided with a threaded portion 28 and with a configuration for engagement by a turning tool whereby the member may be screwed in and out of the housing. The connecting piece can be employed in both onepipe and two-pipe systems irrespective of whether the connecting pipes of the installation are run from underneath or from the side to the radiator. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the portion 32 is reduced in diameter and is guided and centred by radial studs (24) and the sealing portions 26, 32 are formed as plug lift closures with 0-rings (46, 43).
