Abstract

1373818 Valves M SMITH and P D JACKSON 15 Dec 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 43460/71 Heading F2V A fluid control valve has a body 1 with an insert cage 4 seating through joint ring 3 on seat ring 2 and the upper outer edge 8 of the cage and the inner edge 9 of the body opening chamfered to form a V-shaped groove for 0-ring 10. Force F 1 applied by cover 5 secured by bolts 6 is transferred to the cage 4 (force F 2 ) and to the body 1 (force F 3 ) to form seals. The force F 2 is transferred through the cage 4 to the joint ring 3 to form a seal with seat ring 2. The sealing ring 10 can be of other cross-section, e.g. triangular, square, inverted T &c. (Fig. 2, not shown).
