Abstract

1437577 Textile treatment RIGGS & LOMBARD INC 10 April 1974 16043/74 Heading D1L Cleaning solvents are applied to textile fabric webs in apparatus comprising, as shown in Fig. 1, means on delivering the web 32 in a tensionless flat condition onto a conveyor 38 and carrying the web past a plurality of securing stations, comprising solvent sprays 42, 44 and 46, with each station re-cycling a portion of solvent drainings, collected in troughs 66, 68 and 70, as well as a portion of the adjacent station drainings, then past a final station, comprising spray 74, wherein clean, fresh solvent is applied. The web is then carried through a suction station 86 where a portion of the solvent is removed and then past an optional application station, comprising spray 92, where a chemical may be applied to the web. The web is then carried into a drying chamber 14 where it is transported in a flat, tensionless condition over a plurality of vibratory conveyors 102, 124 and 138 providing bulking action to the material while it is subjected to a combination of air and super-heated vapour used to flash off solvent entrained within the material. A second optional application station, comprising spray 130, is provided in the drying section to apply additional chemicals to the web prior to leaving the drying chambers. The apparatus is in modular configuration to permit extension of the unit or the insertion of additional stages to the same basic unit.
