Abstract
1308261 Textile treating apparatus BRUCKNER - APPARATEBAU MICHELSTADT GmbH 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970 25 Feb 1971] 26195/71 Heading D1L In a process for the wet treatment of a textile web with an organic solvent and subsequent drying of the web with a hot air stream, the web is first shrunk in hot solvent and then laid evenly on a web transport means through which air may pass, this transport means conveying the web through the drying process. In the embodiment shown of apparatus for carrying out this process the web 7 passes through a shrinking zone 1' wherein sprays 13 of hot solvent spray the web, a container 14 catching liquid dripping down. The web is here transported by tenter chains. The web is next passed, supported on a mesh belt, through a washing zone 2, a zone 3' wherein an air stream blows liquid out of the web, a hot air drying zone 4 and an air zone 5. The solvent may be recovered by a condensation device from the hot air in the drying zone. In a further embodiment, a U-shaped bath is provided in place of the shrinking zone 1' shown and the zone 3' is replaced by a pair of coaoting rollers, this embodiment also having the washing zone 2 optionally omitted, the washing taking place in the U- shaped bath. A yet further embodiment has the U-shaped bath followed by a perforated drum having three sectors, a suction air stream removing liquid in the first, a hot air stream drying the web in the second and the web being aired in the third, the washing and shrinking both taking place in the U-shaped bath in this embodiment. The same solvent can be used for both washing and shrinking where separate zones for these processes occur, or different additives (e.g. swelling agents) can be used. The solvent may be perchloroethylene or dichloroethylene.
