Abstract

1430488 Valves O TUGHENHAGEN 5 April 1974 15164/74 Heading F2V A liquid flow control valve comprises upper and lower closure members 5, 6 defining therebetween a leakage collecting chamber 7 communicating with the exterior of valve casing 1 via a passage 8 in valve spindle 9. The closure members are provided with collars 5a, 6a which respectively define throttle gaps 15, 16 with casing 1, each gap having a flow area less than that of passage 8 so that if seat 4 is damaged leakage fluid pressure cannot build up in chamber 7. The closure members are biased to the closed position by springs 12, 13 and are opened by a compressed air cylinder which forces closure 5 downwards to unseat closure 6.
