Abstract
1429826 Rotors of dynamoelectric machines ACOMEL SA 4 Oct 1973 [6 Oct 1972] 46297/73 Heading H2A A solid non-laminated conductive rotor suitable for use in a high speed asynchronous motor, or in a synchronous motor with asynchronous starting characteristics, has axial grooves of constant width but varying depth in its peripheral surface, the distance d between the grooves being preferably equal to the penetration depth at the operating frequency in an asynchronous motor, or to the penetration depth at the frequency at which the mean asynchronous component of the torque is equal to the resistant torque under asynchronous starting conditions in a synchronous motor. Skin effect losses arising from the flow of induced current solely in a surface layer of the rotor are thereby minimized. The rotor may be of steel and may have end rings (not illustrated). Alternate grooves are of the same depth in the rotor of Fig. 4 (not shown).
