Abstract

1437348 Core constructions NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 19 June 1973 [21 June 1972] 29180/72 Heading H2A The rotor of an A.C. machine comprises interdigitated poles 100, 101 magnetized by axially magnetized permanent magnet discs associated with steel discs 4, 5, 6 and 7, coupled to the poles, one end of the rotor being formed as a stabilizing region providing induction starting and preventing hunting during operation. As shown, alternate poles, 100, do not extend the full length of the rotor, the end steel disc 7 having projections 28 aligned with poles 100 so that disc 7, projections 28 and the ends of poles 101 in fact form a solid steel rotor serving as the stabilizing region and also contributing a reluctance torque during normal motoring operation.
