Abstract

1,105,868. Mechanical switches without quick action. H. L. CHAMBAUT. 10 June, 1966 [11 June, 1965; 25 June, 1965; 23 May, 1966], No. 26011/66. Heading H1N. A rotary switch has moving contacts 17, 18, 19, Fig. 5, mounted on a rotor 4 and having outer arcuate contact edges 20, 21, 22 engageable with spaced contacts 23 mounted in selected recesses 24 in the stator 2. The contact edges such as 20 may be of sufficient length to bridge adjacent pairs of fixed contacts 23. Other fixed contacts 28 in inner recesses 29 of the stator engage the inner arcuate edges 25, 26, 27 of the contacts 17, 18, 19. The fixed contacts 23, 28, Fig. 4, are bent to extend radially outwardly of the stator 2, and may comprise multiple bent-up wires or a strip which is split to form two separate contact surfaces. In a modification the ends of fixed contact wires 28, Fig. 10, engage the faces of the moving contacts 17-19 which have raised formations 51 to increase the pressure at the switch settings. In this example a pair of rotors 47, 48 is mounted on a single actuating shaft 5, the stator 2 carrying two pairs of fixed contacts 42.
