Abstract
1429298 Stud-and-socket Fastenings UNITED-CARR Ltd 3 Dec 1973 [18 Oct 1972] 47936/72 Heading E2B A lever is secured at an aperture in a plate by means of a stud fastener. The form shown in Figures 1, 3 and 6, has a pair of legs 38, 39 which snap at grooves 40 into a square hole in a plate 44, whereupon, the stud portion is forced down, Fig. 6, to lock it in place. The lever 20 has a hollow boss 23 with a key 26 which may be slid down groove 32 in the stud body 31 and then the lever is rotated so that the key lies under shoulder 36 to prevent the lever pulling off during limited rotation. In the form shown in Fig. 12, the lever shank 53 passes right down through the boss 62 of the stud fastener. Alternatively, (Figs. 13-19, not shown) a separate spigot (73) extends through the lever boss and also through the stud fastener or (Figs. 20, 21, not shown) a simple, snap-in fastener may have an upstanding spigot on which the lever turns. In the form shown in Fig. 26 the stud fastener is hollow to recieve a boss on the lever 90 and has a rim which locates it against withdrawal. A further modification (Figs. 27-31, not shown) is similar to Fig. 26 except that the stud fastener is expanded to grip the plate by a presseddown pin, as in Figs. 3 and 6. All parts are preferably of plastics.
