Abstract

1427414 Infusing coffee GRASSO'S KONINKLIJKE MACHINEFABRIEKEN NV 20 Sept 1973 [26 Sept 1972] 44216/73 Addition to 1311565 Heading A4E [Also in Divisions B1-B2] The apparatus defined in claims 1 and 2 at least of Specification 1311565 is modified by the inclusion of one of the following features, (a) a cylinder containing a double-acting piston connected to the conduit or one of the conduits leading out of the column upstream of the valve means, (b) valve means for the conduit leading into the column being arranged on the side of the piston opposite the bed at a position less than three times the diameter of the conduit below the surface of the piston, (c) the means to drive the rotatable disc is arranged so that the disc is stationary during at least a second part of the compression stroke in which the bed formed during a first part of the compression stroke is compacted between said piston and the old bed, (d) the disc has slots and grooves therein and the knives straight-edged or finely toothed, and (e) a heat exchanger to receive removed portions of the bed together with washing fluid and controlled by an adjacent thermostat to allow by-passing of the exchanger where necessary.
