Abstract

1426263 Printing apparatus HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN AG 2 May 1973 [2 May 1972] 20870/73 Heading B6C An offset sheet printing machine comprising sheet feed 8, impression cylinder 1, offset cylinder 2 plate cylinder 3, inking apparatus 4, damping apparatus 5 and sheet removal means 9 has number printing apparatus 11 comprising number printing mechanisms mounted on a shaft which is readily removable from a drive shaft and bearings in the frame of the machine and an inking apparatus 12 for the number printing apparatus which is also readily removable from the machine. As shown, the inking apparatus, Fig 2, consists of two ink applying rollers 19, an axially reciprocable rubbing roller 20 and a messenger roller 22 which is moved to contact the rubbing roller 20 and an ink feed roller 23 alternately. Movement of the messenger roller and axial reciprocation of the rubbing roller 20 is derived from two independent cam surfaces of a single control cam 29.
