Abstract

1425750 Torque wrenches CONSOLIDATED DEVICES Inc 27 July 1973 [27 July 1972] 35793/73 Heading B3N A torque wrench has a tubular lever A, a head H, a crank C pivotal by pin P to the lever, a link L pivotal to the crank by pivot P<SP>1</SP> and mounted by an adjustable bearing support B for pivotable and sliding movement in the lever A and a cam block E between a spring biased slide block D and the free end of link L. In operation, reaching of a predetermined torque causes pivotal movement of the link L and cam block E about its corners, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4. Fig. 6 shows how the spring loading can be altered. A carrier block 50 is carried in the lever with a bolt 51 in screwthreaded engagement therewith. A drive sleeve 56 is adjustably fixed on the bolt. A driver 60 has an outer sleeve 61 and a central core portion 62. As shown the driver 60 is in a retracted position wherein sleeve 56 is drivingly connected thereto so that spring pressure can be modified by rotating bolt 51. In its forward position the driver disengages sleeve 56 and engages the lever A through coacting splined portions.
