Abstract

1425521 Solid fuel fired combustion appliances COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 14 Dec 1973 [9 Jan 1973] 1112/73 Heading F4W A solid fuel fired combustion appliance includes a secondary air passage 22 located above the grate 4 adjacent the back of the fire 18. A secondary air flow entering through an aperture 21 in the front of the fire passes through passage 22 and is directed by plate 20 to burn off the volatiles issuing from the base of the firebed. The appliance is of the type described in Specification 1,425,315. The aperture 21 remains open even when glass panel 28 is raised for removing the ash tray 8.
