1425096 Band towel dispenser SEBRAN 9 Feb 1973 [22 June 1972] 6462/73 Heading B8M A band towel dispenser in which a predetermined length of towel can be unwound and the same length of towel rewound by a single pull on the towel band comprises a pair of side walls, e.g. 11, supporting a cradle 29 for clean towel, a measuring roller 42, a pressing roller 44 mounted in guides 16 and adapted to press the towel against the roller 42 when the towel is pulled, a recovery roller 46 for used towel, and a driving roller 43 for frictionally engaging the last turn of towel on the roller 46 for winding the towel thereon. The rollers 42 and 43 are connected by transmission means including a blocking device controlled by a timing device to determine said predetermined length. The roller 46 is supported on pivoted arms 19 urged upwardly by springs 25 and as the amount of used towel on the roller 46 increases the arms 19 lower against the action of the springs so that the used towel roll partially occupies the space left free by the roll 30 of clean towel. The dispenser may include a pivoted flap 49 to prevent drips of water from the used towel roll falling on to the clean roll. Guides 12 may be provided for the used towel and are mounted on the side walls 11 which are pivoted to a rear wall 1 of the dispenser housing at 6 so that the walls 11, and hence the rollers carried thereby can be pivoted forwardly to facilitate insertion of a new towel band. When the towel band is all used up the ends of the roller 46 engage abutments 14 on the side walls 11 and thus are lifted from sockets 21 in the arms 19. The blocking and timing device, Fig. 6, includes pinions 54, 55 fixed to the shafts 39, 40 of the measuring roller 42 and the driving roller 43 respectively. A chain 61 passes round these pinions and also a further pinion on the shaft 57 of a cam 56. When the towel is pulled the chain moves in the direction of arrows f4, f5, f6, until a portion 58 of the cam 56 engages one end 62 of an escapement lever 59 to cause it to pivot in the direction f7. This causes the other end 63 of the lever to block further rotation of the cam and also urges together suction cups 75, 76 against the action of a spring 67. After a certain time the cups 75, 76 part to allow pivoting of the lever 59 back to the position shown in which a further length of towel may be dispensed.
