Abstract

1425047 Rotary positive-displacement machines GREINER SCIENTIFIC CORP 15 May 1973 [21 Nov 1972] 22967/73 Heading F1F In pumping apparatus individual peristaltic pump units 27 are driven by a common electric motor M through either of elongate gears 33, 34 revolving at different speeds and are secured on a supporting cradle 10 by latch members 100 so that they can be detached or brought into service, as required. Each unit has a rotary ribbed plate 55 with gear teeth 62 and, on one side, rollers 60 made of e.g. nylon, to compress a single pumping tube T, or a pair of pumping tubes T, T', in cooperation with a molded-plastics backing member 77. Plates 40, 41 shrouding the plate 55 are separated by molded-plastics members 65, 66 to which the member 77 is fixed by locking units 87. Longitudinal movement of the tube or tubes is prevented by friction strips 98, 98A. Each unit can be mounted on the cradle 10 so that the teeth 62 mesh with either one of the gears 33, 34, which are coupled to the motor output-shaft 28 through gears 29, 31, respectively. A recess 106 in each of the latch members permits mounting of the respective pump unit in an inoperative position with the teeth 62 out of contact with both of the gears 33, 34, Fig. 5 (not shown). The upper wall 13 of a casing C for the motor supports speed control, on - off and reversing knobs 16, 17, 18.
