1424423 Valves A GIACOMINI 12 March 1973 [14 March 1972] 11867/73 Heading F2V [Also in Division A4] In a control unit for a bath associated with a shower unit comprises a single device providing valves for controlling and/or mixing water from hot and cold supplies, and for directing water to the shower unit or the bath, and the device also controlling the drainage of water from the bath, the drainage controlling means includes a shaft with the valves rotatably mounted thereon. As shown in Fig. 1, a casing 1, mounted in side one end of the bath V, carries a rotatable knob A and levers B, C. Body Z of casing 1, Fig. 5, is fixed by a ring 3 threaded on a projection Za of body 2 and a packing ring 4, and has concentric cylindrical walls 5, 6, 32. A pipe 12 rotates without axial displacement within wall 6 and a sleeve 16. Gaskets 13, 16 prevent leakage of water. A second pipe 18 within pipe 12 has a sealing ring 19. A hot water pipe 25, Fig. 8, and a cold water pipe 26 are respectively connected to inlets 23, 24 in the body 2. As shown in Fig. 8, a port 21 in pipe 12 is in register with inlet 23, and a port 22 is out of register with inlet 24, so that only hot water passes into pipe 12. In another position, port 21 and inlet 23 are in register, and port 22 and inlet 24 are not; so that only cold water is admitted to pipe 12. Between these positions the proportions of hot and cold water are varied. Water from ports 21, 22 flows to an annular recess 33 in pipe 12. Pipe 18 has lands, grooves and packing rings 30 preventing axial flow in position of Fig. 5. Movement of the pipe 18 to the left allows water to flow between pipes 12, 18 through a delivery 17 into the bath V. When pipe 18 moves to the right, water flows through an annular chamber 35 and a duct 36 to the shower. Pipe 18 is connected to a sector 37 which is restrained from rotation and lies inside knob A, and has a cam groove 39 co-operating with a stud 40 projecting inwards from knob A. When knob A is turned, the sector moves axially, so that pipe 18 is moved to deliver water either to the bath or the shower.
